CAIRO, Nov 3 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary-General Ahmad Abul-Gheit emphasized on Monday the importance of coordination with the United States to reach political solutions to the crises in Sudan and Libya and to achieve regional stability.
Abul-Gheit made this remark during his meeting with the visiting US President's Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos, according to a statement by the Secretary-General's official spokesperson Jamal Rushdi.
The Arab League chief reiterated his call to end the ongoing war in Sudan and alleviate the suffering of the population. 
He affirmed that the Arab League is closely following regional and international initiatives aimed at restoring calm and paving the way for a comprehensive intra-Sudanese political process.
On Libya, Abul-Gheit emphasized the Arab League's support for all efforts to preserve the country's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and stability. 
The American official stated that Washington is focusing its efforts on halting the fighting in Sudan as soon as possible, delivering urgent humanitarian aid, and creating the conditions for launching a comprehensive Sudanese political process.
Boulos also briefed the Secretary-General on the US position rejecting the military escalation and violations in the El Fasher city as well as on the US perspective regarding the situation in Libya and the challenges and opportunities facing stability there. (end)
