Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2025 kicks off
ABU DHABI, Nov 3 (KUNA) -- Abu Dhabi opened Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2025 on Monday under the theme "Intelligent Energy for Accelerated Progress," drawing global energy leaders, policymakers, and experts.
In his keynote speech, UAE Industry and Advanced Technology Minister and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Sultan Al-Jaber said artificial intelligence (AI) needs reliable, affordable power; the world still relies on oil and gas for electricity, with gas supplying over a quarter of data center demand.
He warned that gas turbine shortages raise power prices and that infrastructure must expand through 2050.
He framed energy as a new engine for growth and competitiveness driven by innovation and low-emissions solutions, urging policies that unlock capital from existing assets, reduce risk, and channel investment to the right projects.
Meanwhile, Energy Minister Suhail Al-Mazroui said the UAE is pursuing a balanced path - energy security while accelerating clean energy.
UAE is spending AED 189 billion (USD 51.5B) on infrastructure and clean energy to reach net-zero by 2050, he said.
It now has 12.4 gigawatts of clean power (over 30 percent of electricity), three giant single site solar plants, the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant running at full power, and the world's largest solar plus storage project for 24/7 clean electricity.
Regulations are being updated to boost flexibility, long-term investment, and competitiveness, he added.
ADIPEC 2025 runs four days, with 45 ministers, 250 CEOs, and senior leaders from industry, finance, innovation, and technology. (end) skm.lr
