Egypt PM: "Sharm El-Sheikh Summit was timely in re-establishing peace"

DOHA, Nov 3 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Monday the International Peace Summit held last month in Sharm El-Sheikh was timely in re-establishing peace and stability in the Middle East and in initiating recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
The Egyptian prime minister made the statement while addressing the inaugural Summit of the Global Coalition to Combat Hunger and Poverty, being held in the Qatari capital, Doha.
He voiced deep appreciation to Qatar for hosting this important summit, praising the distinguished efforts of the joint presidency of Brazil and Spain in leading the Global Coalition to Combat Hunger and Poverty.
Madbouly said that hunger and poverty remain among the most urgent challenges of time, noting that more than two billion people worldwide suffer from varying degrees of food insecurity, while one in five people in Africa experience hunger on a daily basis.
The prime minister underlined that famine in Gaza clearly exemplifies how conflicts destroy people's lives and deprive them of their basic rights.
He pointed out that Egypt plans to host an international conference on "Early Recovery, Reconstruction and Development" in Gaza and invited all to attend.
He noted that hunger and poverty intersect with other structural challenges, such as rising debt levels, declining official development assistance, and limited access to concessional finance, To address these challenges, a comprehensive approach is required, beginning with urgent reform of the global financial architecture and strengthening global economic governance, the Egyptian prime minister concluded.
