By Khaled Al-Jalis KUWAIT, Nov 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Arab Open University (AOU) hosted the 21st International Conference on Applied Business and Economics (ICABE) on Monday, the first time the conference is being held in the Middle East.
The three-day conference, held at the university's campus, will brought together a select group of academics and experts from universities around the world.
In a statement to KUNA, Dr. Salah Al-Hammadi, Director of AOU Kuwait, said that hosting the conference reflected the university's commitment to supporting scientific research and strengthening international academic cooperation.
Dr. Al-Hammadi explained that the conference was first launched in 2002 in London, and subsequent editions have been held in several global cities, including Athens, New York, Paris, and Madrid, before Kuwait hosted it this year under the theme "Synergizing Innovation: The Global Nexus of Business, Technology, Education, and Economic Sustainability." He noted that the conference is witnessing the participation of more than 100 researchers and academics from approximately 20 countries, who will present the latest research and innovations in the fields of technology, education, and economics, and exchange experiences on the rapid developments in these vital sectors.
For his part, Dr. Kamal Nasser, co-chair of the conference, confirmed in a statement to KUNA that the conference focuses on how to utilize technology in education and sustainable economic development, explaining that the concept of sustainable development means achieving a balance between profits, social responsibility, and preserving resources for future generations.
Dr. Afnan Al-Khaldi, AOU Kuwait's Vice President for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research, said that the conference includes panel discussions, scientific papers, and sessions addressing topics such as economics, management strategy, and modern technology over three days.
She explained that the conference's scientific committee received approximately 300 research papers from around the world, 60 of which were selected for presentation during the conference sessions, where participating researchers will present their papers to specialized committees in various scientific sessions.
