KUWAIT, Nov 3 (KUNA)

1990 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah addressed the Kuwaiti people and whole world three months after Iraq invaded and occupied the State of Kuwait, stressing that the occupation must end through complete implementation of international, Arab and Islamicresolutions. He asserted, "The sun of liberation will soon shine on the land of Kuwait and the invaders will be defeated."

2005 -- The State of Kuwait received from the US five citizens who had been detained in Guantanamo Bay facility. Six remained at the offshore prison.

2008 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a law through which the State guaranteed deposits at local banks.

2009 -- Kuwait SC won the sixth Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup after beating Al-Karamah SC of Syria 2-1. The match was held in Kuwait.

2012 -- Kuwait SC won the ninth Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup after beating Irbil SC 4-0 in the final match held in Irbil, Iraq.

2014 -- The Kuwait Government launched slogan "Humanitarian Leader" for national celebrations in 2015 after the UN recognized the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as Humanitarian Leader and Kuwait as Humanitarian Center.

2016 -- Yousef Al-Abdulrazzaq of Kuwait topped the ranking of the Aquabike World Championship (UIM) among more than 200 others.

2016 -- The State of Kuwait won 35 awards and ranked first at the Cairo Art and Media Mondial.

2022 -- The Environment Public Authority inaugurated Jahra Natural Reserve. (end) gta
