U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (KUNA) -- U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced that his country would revive military drills with Cambodia for the first time in eight years.
The U.S. secretary made the press statement following his meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Tea Seiha late Friday on the sidelines of a meeting of ASEAN defense ministers in Kuala Lumpur.
The announcement marks the latest sign of warming ties following a flurry of deals between the two sides, including a U.S. President Donald Trump-backed peace accord with Thailand.
Hegseth announced the return of the "Angkor Sentinel" drills, which were suspended in 2017 at a time when Washington criticized Phnom Penh for worsening human rights problems and a deterioration of democracy. (end)
