WASHINGTON, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait commended the role of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) in supporting Iraq's political stability and promote security and development.
Addressing the UN General Assembly in New York, Abdulaziz Al-Saidi, Third Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Kuwait to the United Nations, expressed his country's appreciation for the mission; which mandate ends by end of this year, as well its positive support regarding the files of Kuwaiti prisoners of war and missing persons, nationals of third countries, and Kuwaiti property, including the national archives.
In this context, Al-Saidi emphasized the importance of Iraq's full cooperation with the UN High-Level Representative tasked exclusively with following up on these files, pursuant to Security Council Resolution 2792 (2025), to ensure the desired progress on these sensitive humanitarian issues in a constructive and responsible manner, free from any political exploitation.
He said that the State of Kuwait reiterates that Iraq's security and stability are essential elements of regional security, affirming commitment to continuing close cooperation with the UN and the brotherly Iraq to ensure that these humanitarian issues are addressed within a consistent UN framework, in a manner that upholds the principles of international law, strengthens good neighborly relations and mutual respect, and enables Iraq to successfully fulfill its international obligations and duties.
