Kuwait PM chairs meeting on mega development projects

KUWAIT, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah chaired on Thursday the 32nd meeting of the ministerial committee tasked with following up on the implementation of major development projects in the country.
During the meeting, His Highness the Prime Minister underlined Kuwait's commitment to bolstering cooperation with the countries with which it has strategic relations, including the People's Republic of China, to push forward mega development projects by opening wider channels of partnerships purposed to support development plans and strengthen investment, economic, trade and industrial integration efforts.
He also noted the expected official visit by the Vice-President of the People's Republic of China to Kuwait early next month for high-level talks with the Kuwaiti political leadership on historical strategic relations between both friendly countries and means of promoting their coordination, cooperation and consultation at various levels, particularly the implementation of previously signed agreements and memos of understanding.
These agreements aim at carrying out major joint ventures that would lead to promoting distinguished friendly relations based on mutual respect and strong confidence between both countries' leaderships and governments and push forward their economic, trade and investment cooperation to new horizons.
During the meeting, His Highness the Prime Minister stressed the significance of continuing to bolster efforts to attain comprehensive development goals under the direction of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah through governmental commitment to carrying out mega development projects as planned.
His Highness also directed the committee to keep stepping up efforts to diversify the economic base and elevate promising sectors through following-up and coordination with relevant government bodies and companies to ensure a smooth implementation of mega development projects.
He pointed out that the ongoing and coming stages of mega development projects require close coordination and concerted efforts on the part of concerned agencies to fulfill goal and output attainment requirements in an effective way and as per a specific timetable.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and committee rapporteur Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat expounded on the outcomes of the high-level ministerial committee's meetings regarding the implementation of major development projects.
The meeting was attended by Head of His Highness the Prime Minister's Diwan Abdulaziz Dakhil Al-Dakhil, Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Minister of State for Municipal and Housing Affairs Abdullatif Hamed Al-Mishari, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr. Sabeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Ateeq Al-Majed and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and committee rapporteur Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat.
