WHO conducts first medical evacuation from Gaza since ceasefire

GENEVA, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced on Wednesday that the organization successfully carried out its first medical evacuation from the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire.
The operation included 41 critically ill patients and 145 companions.
Ghebreyesus said in a post on his official account in (X) that around 15,000 patients are still waiting for approval to receive medical care outside Gaza.
He also called on countries to show their solidarity, stressing the urgent need for all routes to be opened to expedite the medical evacuation. (end) imk.hb
