Kuwait adheres to GCC environmental projects -- official

KUWAIT, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is robustly committed to supporting joint GCC environmental ventures namely for securing a clean and safe environment, said the Acting Director General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Nof Behbehani on Wednesday.
Speaking at the 45th meeting of the GCC Environment Ministers meeting, Behbehani said the meeting aimed at boosting common action in the environmental sphere, noting that the GCC countries should enhance coordination at this level in light of worldwide climatic change, dwindling natural resources and soaring pollution.
For his part, Khaled Al-Snaidi, the assistant GCC Secretary General for economic affairs, has affirmed in his speech that the GCC states have dedicated increasing concern for environmental and climatic issues in recent years.
National strategies have been adopted for enhancing efficiency of managing the natural resources, cutting carbon emissions through expansion of the renewable enegry, executing green hydrogen and waste recycling projects.
Al-Snaidi has added that the GCC states have affirmed their adherence to the Paris Agreement on conserving the climate and international initiatives aimed at attaining carbon neutrality. (end) ahr.rk
