Health Ministry sends Kuwaiti nurses to Oman for kidney dialysis training

KUWAIT, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Health announced Tuesday the dispatch of Kuwaiti nurses to Oman to participate in a specialized training program in kidney dialysis, as part of ongoing cooperation with Oman College of Health Sciences and under a bilateral memorandum of understanding.
In a press statement, the Ministry said this is the first external training program of its kind in the nursing field, aimed at enhancing clinical knowledge and improving the competence of national staff in caring for patients with kidney failure.
The three-month program includes 480 hours of theoretical lectures and practical training, focusing on both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, in line with the highest standards of quality care for end-stage renal disease patients.
Director of Nursing Services at the Ministry, Dr. Eman Al-Awadhi, noted that this training follows earlier national programs in renal nursing, with participants having completed a preparatory course at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital.
Al-Awadhi described the program as a qualitative leap in nursing education, aligned with the Ministry's initiatives to expand specialized training through partnerships with leading regional and international institutions.
She added that the effort is part of broader plans to encourage excellence among national staff and to make the nursing profession more attractive through high-quality local and international training opportunities. (end) ae.aai
