KUWAIT, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- Chief of the Kuwait Fire Force (KFF), Major General Talal Al-Roumi, affirmed that Kuwait is adopting an integrated national approach to disaster and risk management, based on early preparedness, rapid response, and sustainable recovery.
This came in a speech by Al-Roumi delivered during an event organized by KFF on Monday, to mark the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, titled "Financing Resilience, Not Disasters." The theme is consistent with the Sendai Framework 2015-2030 and in line with Kuwait's goals, which place people at the center.
This is particularly true of the outcomes of the Sixth Arab Ministerial Meeting, recently hosted by Kuwait under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and the outcomes of the meeting, which drafted the Kuwait Declaration.
Al-Roumi emphasized that prevention is not the responsibility of a single entity, but rather a shared national and humanitarian duty that begins with the individual, with the participation of government agencies, civil society, the private sector, academic institutions, and the media, to create a conscious societal culture that recognizes the value of safety before danger strikes.
The event included workshops attended by representatives of relevant government agencies, the civil society, and the private sector, in addition to KFF.
It's worth noting that the International Day for Disaster Reduction is held annually on October 13th, and was established by the UN's General Assembly with the aim of promoting a global culture of risk awareness and disaster loss reduction. (end) ahk.res
