Suicide attacks kill 12 people in N. Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Oct 18 (KUNA) -- At least seven "terrorists," three women and two children were killed as security forces foiled two suicide attacks in Pakistanآ’s northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province bordering Afghanistan, said state media on Saturday.
According to state owned Radio Pakistan, security forces foiled a suicide attack in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan tribal district in KPK, killing four "terrorists." Three women and two children embraced martyrdom in the cowardly "terrorist attack." A banned militant outfit Gul Bahadur group, hiding in Afghanistan, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Moreover, at least three "terrorists" were killed after they attempted to attack a police check post in KPKآ’s Bannu district, police said.
A statement issued by a senior police official, Deputy Inspector General Sajjad Khan, confirmed the attack saying that the "terrorists were attempting to attack the Mazanga police check post using a vehicle loaded with explosive material." During this attempt, they were intercepted by police officials killing all three "terrorists while police personnel remained safe." The suicide attacks come at a time when Pakistan is witnessing a rise in "terror attacks" especially in KPK and Balochistan provinces bordering Afghanistan.
On Thursday, Pakistan military confirmed the killing of 34 "India-backed terrorists" during multiple operations that took place across KPK. (end) sbk.rk
