India, Australia discuss ways to deepen coop. in energy sector

NEW DELHI, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- India and Australia on Thursday discussed ways of deepening cooperation in the energy sector in New Delhi.
A statement from the Indian Ministry of Energy said that during the fifth meeting of the India-Australia Energy Dialogue several important aspects of energy at bilateral and global levels were discussed.
"The discussions covered aspects of global transition to net zero emissions, practical cooperation and promoting dialogue in the field of energy efficiency and enabling technologies, recognizing the role of green hydrogen, reaffirming commitment to being reliable and trusted trading partners for energy resources, and recognizing the importance of diversified, secure, and resilient supply chains," the statement said.
Representatives from the Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ministry of Mines and Ministry of Coal were part of the Indian delegation.
The Indian side made detailed presentations on the progress achieved and future cooperation pathways under their respective joint working groups.
Indian Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal co-chaired the meeting with Australian Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen.
The ministers stressed that the India-Australia partnership continues to play a pivotal role in advancing secure, robust, and sustainable energy systems in the Indo-Pacific region. (end) atk.gta
