MOSCOW, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- The Kremlin renewed on Thursday its commitment to assist the Palestinian people and help bring to fruition the two-state solution to end the conflict in the Middle East.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the press that Russia always stood firm on UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions concerning the Palestinian cause, especially the efforts to bring about the two-state solution and a just, as well as sustainable, peace to the Middle East region.
Moscow is not part of the so-called "Gaza deal" and therefore would likely not partake in the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, said Peskov, who reiterated that any assistance from Russia would be directly given to the Palestinian people.
On Syria, Peskov indicated that the matter of President Vladimir Putin visiting Damascus was not on the table of discussions with Syrian officials in Moscow; however, the issue of Russian bases in Syria was touched upon during talks.
Peskov also discussed the situation in the Ukraine and Russia's relations with Europe, claiming that the Europeans were inciting Ukrainians to continue the conflict with Russia. (end) dan.gta
