Japan FM hails Gaza ceasefire deal

TOKYO, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya welcomed on Thursday US President Donald Trump's announcement that Hamas and the Israeli occupation reached the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.
"This agreement represents a significant step towards calming the situation and realizing a two-state solution, this agreement must be implemented, and the tragic situation must be brought to an end without delay," Minister Iwaya stressed.
He also lauded the tireless mediating efforts of countries such as the US, Qatar, Egypt and Turkiye, in achieving this agreement, and urged all parties concerned to implement the agreement in good faith and in a steady manner.
"Japan will continue to work closely with relevant countries and international organizations, actively contributing to international efforts for early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, alongside the urgent improvement of its humanitarian situation," Iwaya said.
Furthermore, Iwaya renewed Japan's commitment to playing a practical and proactive role in bringing the realization of a two-state solution one-step closer. (end) mk.sas
