1976 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a decree-into-law approving an accord to establish the joint GCC Joint Program Production Institution.
2002 -- Kuwait's Fawzi Dahesh was crowned champion of the Asian field and track tournament's 400m competition, held in South Korea.
2009 -- Kuwaiti citizen Khaled Al-Mutairi returned home after spending eight years in the Guantanamo detention complex. He was acquitted by US federal courts from terrorism-related charges.
2010 -- Kuwaiti diplomat Khaled Al-Mashaan, former Ambassador to Qatar, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), died at age 67.
2010 -- Abdulwahab Al-Saeedi of the Kuwaiti Disabled Sports Club won the gold medal in the fencing championship held in Hungary.
2013 -- Kuwait Al-Fatat Club was crowned champion of Yas tournament for the Arab women basketball club held in Abu Dhabi.
2017 -- Kuwait Government approved a bill dissolving the municipal council, and formed a interim committee acting care care-taker of the council. (end) bs
