KUWAIT, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Sheikh Abdullah Al Nouri Charity Society has signed a cooperation agreement with the World Food Programme to support nursing mothers in Gaza with hot meals and other nutritional items.
The society said in a statement on Thursday that the effort envisages offering a financial contribution of USD one million for securing health food for the most in need segments in the strip.
It quoted the chairperson, Jamal Al-Nouri, as saying that the accord mirrored the commitment to aid the Palestinian people namely the mothers and the children that are suffering from hard health conditions due to food shortage and deteriorating utilities in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the WFP released a statement expressing gratitude for the generous Kuwaiti initiative and lauding the society's humanitarian efforts on the global stage.
Al-Nouri society is the first Kuwaiti charity that joins hands with the WFP to relieve the Palestinians. (end)
