China voices discontent with Taiwanese official's presence in New York

BEIJING, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- China on Thursday expressed paramount dismay with the US permit for a diplomatic official from Taiwan to visit New York during the UN General Assembly sessions.
The move is tantamount to intervention in China's internal affairs, said a foreign ministry spokesperson, Guo Jiakun, speaking at a news conference.
He was reacting to Washington's permit for the official in charge of foreign affairs in Taiwan, Lin Chia-lung, to enter New York on Wednesday.
The US conduct was "a dangerous breach of the principle of single China," he said, adding that it sent a "wrong message to the separatists in Taiwan." "There is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inseparable part of the Chinese territories," he said, adding that the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government that represents the whole of China.
According to the Taiwanese Central News Agency, Lin attended a reception in New York and met former American officials. (end) slq.rk
