KUWAIT, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Scientific Club (KSC) Chairman Talal Al-Kharafi on Thursday praised the historic achievement of Kuwaitآ’s national wingsuit skydiving team after winning first place at the 5th FAI World Cup, becoming the first Arab team to mount the podium and break records ahead of the United States and Australia.
This came in a KSC press statement on the occasion of an honoring ceremony for the team following the conclusion of the championship in the Czech Republic, held under the umbrella of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI).
Al-Kharafi said honoring Kuwaitآ’s athletes is a recognition of their efforts and accomplishments, and a motivation to sustain excellence, expressing pride in Kuwaiti youth who excel internationally.
He added that the global victory was the result of collective effort and strong support for air sports in Kuwait, reflecting the professional level the team has reached and its ability to compete worldwide.
He noted the honoring reflects the clubآ’s vision of providing an enabling environment for all, fostering youth talent, and confirming that success is built on teamwork and solidarity.
The statement added that the ceremony also recognized outstanding members of KSCآ’s Astronomy Department for their efforts in promoting scientific awareness and following celestial events, including the recent total lunar eclipse observed over Kuwait.
For his part, Chairman of the Kuwait Freefall Committee Mohammad Al-Rifaei said KSCآ’s honoring initiative was not unusual, as the club has always been at the forefront of supporting youth, encouraging them, and granting them confidence to reach global levels.
He commended KSCآ’s cooperation in facilitating the teamآ’s participation, including securing FAI membership cards for athletes as Kuwaitآ’s sole representative in the federation.
Al-Rifaei noted that the victory did not come out of nowhere but was the result of years of preparation and training camps, describing it as a source of pride for Kuwait and the Arab world.
He affirmed continued coordination with KSC to benefit from its international experience and enhance the teamآ’s participation in future championships.
The victory of Kuwaitآ’s national wingsuit skydiving team at the 5th FAI World Cup, held in the Czech Republic from August 15 to 22, 2025, represents a historic milestone for Kuwaiti and Arab air sports, as the first Arab team to secure the global title. The achievement crowns years of intensive training camps and joint preparation under KSCآ’s umbrella and in coordination with the Kuwait Freefall Committee.(end)
