AMMAN, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's ambassador to Jordan Hamad Al-Meri on Thursday heaped praise on the Hashemite kingdom for serving as a "beacon" of Arab culture and arts, saying that his country's ties with Amman were firmly on an upward trajectory.
Bilateral relations have witnessed tangible progress, particularly, in the cultural realm, he said in a statement to the press after attending the opening of a 10-day international book fair in the Jordanian capital, in which Kuwait is represented by its National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL).
He went on to say that Amman's "cultural cooperation" with Gulf Arab states continues to be on the rise, at a time where a number of joint initiatives and programs are in the works as part of the "strategic partnership" linking the Hashemite Kingdom and the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council bloc.
Kuwait's pavilion at the book fair is putting on display a plethora of publications that encapsulate its "cultural presence" on the international stage, said NCCAL Acting Assistant Secretary General for Antiquities and Museums Mohammad bin Redha, hailing the event as a viable platform for pan-Arab cultural exchange.
Praising the efforts to the book fair's organizers, he said that such meticulous preparations are instrumental in making sure that the event properly depicts the prominence of Arab culture. (end)
