By Khaled Al-Shemmeri RIYADH, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait-Saudi committee on coordination of the cultural, information, media and social development affairs, saw, during its third session, the signing of a range of initiatives to strengthen the long-standing cooperation between the two sisterly countries.
The session was co-chaired by Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information Dr. Nasser Mheisen and Saudi Assistant Minister of Media Dr. Abdullah Al-Maghlouth.
The committee, an affiliate of the Kuwaiti-Saudi Coordination Council, provides an effective platform for advancing the strategic partnership and expanding cooperation, Dr. Mheisen told KUNA on Thursday.
The discussions, held during the just-ended meeting, led to the signing of a range of joint initiatives for cooperation in the fields of culture, media, tourism, health, sports, scientific research and social development, he noted.
"These documents reflect the strength of the historical bonds between the two sisterly countries, and the keenness of the leaders of both countries on turning the strategic objectives of development into actual realty," the Kuwaiti official pointed out.
Dr. Mheisen expressed hope for launching joint innovative media, cultural and tourist projects in the foreseeable future, "with a view to keeping abreast of the latest digital transformations and showcasing the natural and cultural resources of our two countries." The committee renewed support to the initiatives relating to youth, sports and social development, underscoring the importance of academic and scientific cooperation.
The Kuwaiti side of the committee includes representatives of the ministries of information, health, social affairs, higher education and health, as well as representatives of the the Public Authority for Sport, Youth Public Authority, the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature (NCCAL) and Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
The Saudi sides is made up of representatives of the ministries of media, tourism, cuture, education, sports, health, human resources, and social development, as well as representatives of the General Authority of Media Regulation, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA).
