Saudi cabinet welcomes New York declaration on two-state solution

RIYADH, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia's cabinet on Tuesday welcomed a UN-endorsed resolution known as the "New York Declaration," that paves the way for a two-state solution to the Middle East conflict, which garnered some 142 votes in favor of the move.
The Saudi approval came amid the cabinet's weekly session, presided over by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammad bin Salman, in which the cabinet also praised the results of a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Supreme Council emergency meeting, in addition to a separate Arab and Islamic summit, both of which took place a day earlier.
The Saudi cabinet also discussed other pressing matters amid the session, chief among them a joint statement by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and US last week that called for an immediate truce in Sudan as part of a roadmap for peace in the African nation. (end) kns.nam
