Israeli occupation approves new settlement plan eastern Jerusalem

RAMALLAH, Aug 20 (KUNA) -- The so-called higher planning council of the Israeli occupation civil administration in the West Bank approved on Wednesday a new settlement construction plan in the E1 area, eastern Jerusalem.
The plan includes the construction of more than 3,401 housing units, and the establishment of a new settlement.
Last week, Israeli occupation Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced the approval for the construction of said units, describing the step as a "historic achievement." He added that the plan aims to connect Ma'ale Adumim to Jerusalem and to cut communication between the West Bank and Jerusalem. (end) nq.maa.sas
