White House: in discussion over proposal for ceasefire in Gaza

WASHINGTON, Aug 19 (KUNA) -- The White House confirmed Tuesday that the US is discussing a proposal presented by mediators for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, which will include a number of prisoners exchanged, along with the redeployment of Israeli occupation forces, and the increased entry of humanitarian aid, in accordance with the terms of the agreement agreed to by Hamas.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said in a press briefing, "Regarding this proposal, which Hamas has accepted, the United States is still discussing it, and I will defer to the President (Trump) to express his final opinion on it." Earlier, the Qatari foreign ministry said Hamas informed mediators of its approval of the new proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza Strip.
Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammad Al-Ansari said that this proposal represents the best possible option to spare the blood of brothers in the Strip, especially in light of the ongoing military escalation and the plans announced in the media.
