KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 (KUNA) -- An Indonesian fighter jet crashed near a cemetery during a routine training mission in West Java province, killing Air Commodore Fajar Adriyanto, the air force said on Sunday.
The aircraft took off from Atang Sendjaja Airfield in Bogor at 9:08 am local time and the plane was later found crashed near the Astana cemetery, air force information office chief Air Commodore Nyoman Suadnyana said in a statement.
The aircraft took off for a routine "flight proficiency training" organized for air force members, he said, citing that the aircraft was declared safe and all administrative procedures for the flight had been "fulfilled," state-owned ANTARA news agency reported.
It went on to express "utmost" condolences to the family of the slain Indonesian air commodore, hailing him as an inspirational and exemplary leader, it added. (end) aab.nam
