ALGIERS, July 27 (KUNA) -- More than 40 people were killed and 15 others injured when a rebel group attacked a Catholic church in Komanda, Ituri Province, to the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, on Sunday.
A number of people went missing after the attack, according to local media in the DRC.
The gunmen belong to Ugandan rebel group called Allied Democratic Force (ADF) who are allied with the so-called Islamic State.
They attacked the church with firearms and armes blanches during a Mass, started massacring the people inside and then set several nearby houses and shops afire, local officials said.
In February, the armed group claimed responsibility for a similar attack that claimed 23 lives. (end)
