Egyptian FM, Qatar PM review status quo of Gaza truce talks

CAIRO, July 27 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Bader Abdulatty spoke to Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdulrahman to review the latest developments of the joint mediation in the Gaza ceasefire talks between the Palestinian movement Hamas and the Israeli occupation authorities.
The phone conversation, initiated by Abdulatty, also dealt with the efforts aiming to address the humanitarian disaster in Gaza Strip, Spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said in a press release on Sunday.
Both sides stressed the need of halting the atrocities being committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian civilians and addressing the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza Strip.
They agreed to double down on the efforts to reach a comprehensive ceasefire deal as early as possible and ensure immediate delivery of famine relief to the residents in Gaza, the spokesman pointed out.
The talks also dealt with the arrangements for an international conference on the post-conflict recovery and reconstruction in Gaza under Arab-Islamic plan in this regard.
They underscored the importance of lobbying international support to the establishment of a Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, the spokesman added. (end) mm.gb
