Arab League documents Israeli occupation crimes -- chief

CAIRO, July 27 (KUNA) -- The Arab League is continuing the task of monitoring and documenting the Israeli occupation crimes, the organization's chief affirmed on Sunday.
The Arab League calls upon the international justice organizations to shoulder the responsibilities in this regard "despite the strong and known pressures practiced by the government of the occupation and its allies" on these agencies, said the organization's Secretary General Ahmad Abul-Gheit.
Abul-Gheit's statement was delivered on his behalf by the assistant for Palestine and occupied territories, Ambassador Said Abu Ali, during a seminar organized by the Arab League on the prosecution of the occupation officials responsible for the crimes in the occupied territories.
"We have been witnessing with pain and wrath facts of the continuing genocide in Gaza Strip and horrific crimes perpetrated by the occupation .. reliving the times of the ugly barbarism," he said, alluding to the annihilating aggression on Gaza. "Passiveness is only explained as complicity," he added.
These war crimes, the crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing crimes, displacement, settlements and judaization affirm the innate nature of the occupation, he said.
Abul-Gheit said the situation in the West Bank including Jerusalem is equally catastrophic where the occupation has committed plenty of war crimes as part of its hostile policy.
The Arab League, he said, has devoted special attention to activating the monitoring, the documenting and the tracking down of the culprits as well as backing the Palestinians' quest to attain justice and bring those responsible for the crimes to accountability, he said.
This seminar is held as part of the Arab League efforts to prosecute the culprits in front of the International Court of Justice and foil their impunity bids, he said further. (end) mfm.rk
