RIYADH, July 24 (KUNA) -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomes the statement by French President Emmanuel Macron that his country is determined to recognize the Palestine state, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
"This historic decision signals the international community's consensus on the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to the establishment of an independent state within the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital city," the Ministry said in a press release.
The Ministry highlighted the need of similar steps by other countries to help implement the relevant UN resolutions and strengthen commitment to the rules of the international law.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia renews the call for all countries that failed to recognize the Palestinian state to do so without further delay in order to support peace and protect the rights of the brotherly people of Palestine, the statement added. (end)
