ALGIERS, July 24 (KUNA) -- The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs decried the measures taken by the French Minisry of Interior to restrict access of accredited agents of its embassy to areas of handling the diplomatic pouches at Paris airports.
France's measures run counter to the relevant rules enshrined in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Thursday.
In response, the Ministry sought clarifications from the Charge D'Affaires of the French Embassy in Algiers, according to the statement.
The French side claimed that the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs had no knowledge of the measures taken by the Ministry of Interior.
Consequently, Algeria decided to respond in kind to the French measures in order to protect the legal rights of its diplomatic mission in France, the statement added. (end)
