PARIS, July 24 (KUNA) -- French President Emmanuel Macron, welcoming Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to the Elysee Palace on Thurseday, affirmed support to measures made for Lebanon's economic recovery.
Talks held between the two sides covered some main topics, including Lebanon's security, prosperity and sovereignty, French presidency said in a statement.
Macron also lauded procedures taken by Lebanon's authorities to boost the State's institutions and restore its full sovereignty over all territories, it noted.
France is ready to host an international conference to back Lebanon's new program, in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund, Macron said.
He renewed his country's commitment to partaking in rebuilding the affected areas in Lebanon, allocating USD 88 million for the country.
Regionally, Macron underlined the need of full implementation of the ceasefire deal signed on November 26, 2024, calling for the complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from Lebanon.
He also stressed the importance of renewing the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNFIL) in Lebanon and enhancing mechanism of ceasefire control.
Paris is prepared to back Lebanon-Syria collaboration in safeguarding their shared border, providing experience and archives documents on demarcating border, in coordination with Lebanon.
Following the meeting, Salam expressed his tranquility in light of France's commitment to continued backing to Beirut, mainly renewing UNIFL's mandate.
Meeting with Macron constituted a chance to confirm current cooperation between the two sides, mainly in cultural educational, economic and security fields.
Tweeting on "X", Salam affirmed the significance of boosting France-Lebanon partnership, in the face of regional and international challenges.
Meanwhile, French presidency said Salam's visit came in light of the deep-rooted friendship ties between Paris and Beirut, and France's permanent support to Lebanon in different domains. (end(
