ISLAMABAD, July 17 (KUNA) -- At least 63 people lost their lives, while 290 others sustained injuries in Pakistanآ’s eastern Punjab province in the last 24 hours as a "rain emergency" has been imposed in the province, said authorities on Thursday.
According to a statement by Provincial Disaster Management Authority, 63 citizens have died while 290 were injured due to monsoon rains across the province in the past 24 hours. The authority reported deaths in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Pakpattan and Okara district.
The National Disaster Management Authority has forecasted that heavy rains will continue to lash parts of the country over the next 24 hours.
Last month, at least 37 people lost their lives while over 50 others received injuries across Pakistan after heavy rainfall. (end)
