European Council Pres. calls on protection of minorities in Syria

BRUSSELS, July 17 (KUNA) -- European Council President Antonio Costa affirmed on Thursday that he was closely monitoring developments in Syria, calling for the protection all members of religious and ethnic minorities without discrimination.
In a post on the platform X, Costa said, "Closely following the latest developments in Syria," stressing the "I call on the Syrian Authorities to protect all members of religious and ethnic minorities without distinction." Costa welcomed the current ceasefire brokered by the United States and a number of regional partners, urging all parties to honor their commitments to this truce, contributing to stability and peace in the country."
