Apparent ambush against firefighters in Idaho kills 2, suspicious body found

WASHINGTON, June 30 (KUNA) -- Two firefighters were fatally shot and a third is in surgery after they were responding to a brush fire in the Canfield Mountain Natural Area in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, said CNN late Sunday.
A SWAT team found a deceased man near a gun on the Canfield Mountain, the network cited a statement from authorities.
Speaking on the issue, Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris, said that firefighters and police have received an emergency call regarding a fire in Coeur d'Alene, northwest of Idaho State, noting that when they arrived they were targeted by an unknown suspect.
A body of a dead man with a gun nearby was found in the location.
Authorities will start piecing together details about the dead man found on Canfield Mountain after firefighters and police were targeted by sniper fire while a wildfire burned Sunday, Jason Pack, retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent, told CNN. (end) amm.gta
