MOSCOW, May 27 (KUNA) -- Russia and Turkiye agreed on Tuesday to use their influence to ensure no further military escalation in Libya, to continue coordination in Syria to achieve stability and support diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
This came during the joint press conference held by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Moscow, where both sides emphasized preventing hostilities to resume in Libya.
The two ministers discussed the security of the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines in light of the challenges posed by the Ukrainian provocations.
For his part, Fidan confirmed that the talks addressed regional and global issues, pointing out the continued cooperation between Ankara and Moscow to launch the Akkuyu nuclear power plant project, which is a symbol of the strategic partnership between both countries.
Regarding Syria, the two ministers discussed ways to enhance efforts for reconstruction and to lift sanctions, considering this a vital step to achieve national reconciliation in Syria.
He expressed his country's readiness to host any peace talks regarding Ukraine, calling to address the root causes of the conflict to ensure the success of future negotiations.
This meeting comes as part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic coordination between Moscow and Ankara to find political solutions to the Ukrainian crisis by enhancing dialogue and joint effort. (end)
