KUWAIT, May 22 (KUNA) -- The Supreme Committee on Kuwaiti citizenship announced on Thursday the stripping of 1292 citizenships with the matter referred to the cabinet.
The decision was made during the committee's meeting on Thursday chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah.
In a statement, the Interior Ministry revealed that eight individuals had their articles (10 and 11) of the citizenship law stripped due to dual citizenships, and 189 individuals had their article (21 bis A) of the citizenship stripped due to forgery, fraud, and attaining the document via affiliation.
Additionally, 73 individuals who obtained their citizenship through recognition of valuable services had their article (13) citizenship stripped due to forgery, fraud, and attaining the document via affiliation, while 967 individuals who obtained their citizenship through recognition of valuable services had their article (13) citizenship stripped due to country's higher interest.
One individual had their article (14) citizenship stripped due to breach of his allegiance to the country, 50 individuals from the 1965 census had their article (13) citizenship stripped due to country's higher interest, and four (article 8) individuals had their article (13) citizenship stripped due to country's higher interest.
