NEW YORK, May 15 (KUNA) -- General Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan on Thursday affirmed that the he is seeking to issue arrest warrants against individuals charged with crimes in detention in all regions in Libya.
Khan, in a virtual address to A Security Council session on Libya, reviewed his bureau's accomplished tasks over the past six months for sake of attaining justice in the North Africa country.
He mentioned cases such as Italy's detention of Libya's judicial police chief, Usama Njaim, on January 20 upon an arrest warrant released by the ICC first preliminary court. However, he lamented that this detainee had been released later and allowed to return to Libya.
He accused Njaim of committing crimes against humanity and war crimes, as well as practicing torture and oppression in Muaitikiah prison.
