Municipality State Minister stresses importance of joint GCC municipal work

KUWAIT, May 15 (KUNA) -- Municipality and Housing State Minister Abdullatif Al-Mishari stressed the importance of strengthening joint municipal work among the GCC countries and achieving further accomplishments under the wise leaderships.
In his opening remarks at the 28th GCC Ministers of Municipal Affairs meeting Thursday, Al-Mishari said that the experience and expertise "we possess today are an asset to overcome future challenges, with plans aimed at building a sustainable environment that meets our societies' goals." Further goals in the field of joint Gulf municipal work in urban planning, urban environment, legislative mechanisms, municipal oversight, and the development of Gulf national cadres in the field of municipal work are in pursuit, the minister of state said.
He explained that during the committee's meeting in 2024, several outcomes were achieved, most notably the approval of the use of solar panels in buildings, procedures for the removal of abandoned, damaged vehicles and broken-down machinery in GCC countries.
Al-Mishari explained that there is a unique opportunity to translate the contents of the Joint Gulf Municipal Work Plan for the years 2024-2030 into tangible results that contribute to enhancing municipal performance and developing services on the ground.
He noted the distinguished role played by Qatar during its presidency of the previous session for 2024, extending his sincere thanks and appreciation. (end) ahh.res
