GCC reaffirms support for UN-led path to peace in Yemen

RIYADH, May 5 (KUNA) -- GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Budaiwi reaffirmed Monday support for UN efforts for a political solution in Yemen as per the Gulf Initiative, its implementation mechanism, the National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
In a statement, the GCC General Secretariat said that during his meeting in Riyadh with UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, discussions focused on the latest developments in Yemen as well as issues of mutual concern.
Al-Budaiwi also reiterated the Council's full support, as outlined in the Supreme Council's 45th session held in Kuwait, for Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council and its supporting entities, emphasizing their role in achieving security, stability, and safeguarding Yemen's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
