JEDDAH, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned on Tuesday the ongoing and escalation of Israeli aggression on Syrian territories through military targeting of infrastructure and expanding the illegal occupation of the buffer zone with Syria, considering this a serious violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.
In a statement, the OIC stressed on the need to respect the unity, sovereignty and integrity of Syria, preserve its security and stability, stand by the Syrian people and respect their political choices.
The OIC called on all political parties to assume responsibility, prioritize the main interests of the Syrian people, preserve capabilities and lives, and work to complete the political transition process in a peaceful and safe manner that ensures Syria's restoration of its institutions, territorial integrity, role and status among countries.
The Israeli occupation recently seized the buffer zone with Syria and prominent areas in its vicinity, which constitutes an occupation of Syrian territory, a flagrant violation of its sovereignty and a clear violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. (end)
