BEIRUT, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced, Wednesday, the detection of the first confirmed cholera case.
Tis marks Lebanon's first official announcement of a cholera outbreak since June of last year.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health stated in a press release that the confirmed recorded case was of a Lebanese woman in the Akkar region, north of the country. It was confirmed through laboratory tests.
The ministry explained that the woman experienced symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, and severe dehydration. She was admitted to hospital and received the necessary treatment.
The Ministry of Health added that the patient was under observation, and further samples were taken from her surroundings to try identify the source of the infection. (end)
