1971 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues a decree, establishing the medical aid fund, affiliated to the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
1973 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah releases a decree, forming the National Council of Culture, Arts and Letters, to boost the cultural sector and safeguard the national heritage.
1974 -- Kuwait Deputy Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah proclaims a law for re-regulating Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
1977 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah publicizes a decree integrating the directorate general of Al-Shuaiba zone to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
1990 -- With illicit intention to create a dispute, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein claims that Kuwait and the UAE have increased their oil production to push crude prices down. He has also threatened to "resort to force" in the face of the two GCC countries.
1999 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurates the first session of the nine legislative term of the National Assembly. Jassem Mohammad Al-Kharafi is elected speaker and Meshari Al-Enjeri as his deputy.
2002 -- Kuwait ranks top among Arab states with respect of human development, according to a UN report.
2006 -- The National Assembly blesses a bill for slashing number of electoral constituencies to five from 25.
2006 -- The National Assembly approves a bill to suspend deduction of the substituted part of the retirees' pension, retroactive June 26, 2005.
2008 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issues a law granting financial allotment to all civil servants.
