NEW YORK, Jan 29 (KUNA) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to visit the United Nations in a fortnightآ’s time to inform the UN Security Council of his rejection of the new US proposal for peace in the Middle East.
President Abbas hopes that the 15-member Council will vote, after his address, against the plan, announced by US President Donald J. Trump yesterday, Palestinian Representative to the UN Riyadh Mansour told Reporters on Wednesday.
"We'll do our utmost and work with our friends for reaching the best possible draft resolution," he said, without elaborating on the draft text.
Meanwhile, Tunisia Representative to the UN Monsef Baati said his country, the Arab non-permanent member of the Security Council, is looking forward to seeing firm opposition to Trump's plan. (end)
