KUWAIT, March 23 (KUNA) -- Minister of Health Ali Al-Obaidi said Sunday
that the expansion and rehabilitation of laboratories of Al-Jahra Hospital
reflect the ministry's keenness on promote healthcare and improve laboratory
services
The Ministry is committed to providing the health facilities with latest
medical equipment to ensure the accuracy of diagnosis and keep pace with
global developments, Dr. Al-Obaidi said during the opening ceremony of the new
expansion project of the hospital.
"The project for the new lab cost KD 350,000, and includes blood test
units, and a bank for blood, biochemistry, tissue, microbiology, and viruses
labs, in addition to laboratory for emergency accidents," he said.
The minister noted that the budget for laboratory services and vital
observatory tests for the ministry amounted to KD 30 million in 2013, pointing
out to the existence of 92 clinical laboratories in primary health care
centers, and 17 inside hospitals, in addition to eight specialized
laboratories, and 17 centers that employs around 3,500 doctors and technicians.
Al-Obaidi added that these laboratories are provided with the latest
equipment necessary to ensure accuracy and quality in laboratory diagnosis,
and take advantage of modern information technology in preserving the results,
stressing the ministry's keenness to provide cadres specialized in medical
laboratories with the expansion of graduate programs and academic missions.
Al-Obaidi said that the increase in population, age high rates, and
lifestyles associated with modernization led to the increase in capacity and
the number of hospital beds to meet future needs with the establishment of
health services of high quality and fair distribution to all provinces,
especially in Al-Jahra. (end)
