Tunisia holds Seventh Int''l Holy Quran Recitation Competition

TUNIS, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- The Seventh International Tunisian Holy Quran Recitation Competition kicked off in the capital Tunis on Saturday, with some 59 competitors from 19 countries including Kuwait.
The competition organized by Tunisia's Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments in the historical Zaytouna Mosque will host competitors from Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Sudan, Qatar, Syria, Oman, Palestine, Iran, Turkey, Indonesia, Yemen, Bahrain, Lebanon as well as Tunisia.
Kuwaiti competitor Fawaz Al-Otaibi will take part for Kuwait in the three-day event split into five phases, with two separate competitions for males and females.
Competitors will either have to recite the entire Quran with the ability to chanting it, or recite 40 or 30 parts of it with chanting these parts.
Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments Boubaker El-Akhzouri said in his inauguration speech of the competition that the Zaytouna Mosque has forever been a symbol of enlightenment, knowledge and wisdom.
He also said that the competition is to be judged by Islamic intellects and thinkers from a number of Islamic countries. (end) jn.sd KUNA 202042 Sep 08NNNN
