MANAMA, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- A Bahraini official said on Thursday that the
announcement of the National Commission for Human Rights would be before the
end of this year.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nizar Sadeq Al-Baharna said that
political and women associations, as well as MPs and representatives of the
civil body were invited to participate in a consultative meeting before the
announcement.
With regard to applying the Geneva reviews and recommendations on human
rights, Al-Baharna said that an executive director would soon be assigned to
implement the work plan regarding the application of these recommendations.
He pointed out that the budget allocated for the project was estimated at
USD 8.2 million spent on training judges and police officers, as well as other
technical and administrative requirements.
Al-Baharna revealed that a major conference on human trafficking to be
attended by local and international bodies will be held in Bahrain next
November.
The Minister stressed that his country had no human trafficking-related
problem by means of violent or deceptive trafficking that forces labor into
work or even slavery. (end)
