Al-Ghanim confirms Kuwaiti Min. faces grilling in next session

KUWAIT, March 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's top lawmaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim has disclosed that a grilling motion filed by a pair of lawmakers against Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Adel Al-Kharafi "is scheduled for the beginning of the next session of parliament." "I have received requests from MPs Riyad Al-Adsani and Dr. Adel Al-Damkhi for an interpellation of minister Al-Kharafi," the National Assembly Speaker told the press in parliament on Monday.
Kuwait's chief lawmaker added that the procedure will take place at the start of parliament's forthcoming session and Al-Kharafi "has been notified of the grilling motion against him." Al-Ghanim pointed out that parliament will discuss the grilling during its session on March 20, unless the minister decides to postpone it to a later date.
Meanwhile, he noted that discussions of Al-Kharafi's grilling is not part of parliament's current session, however, it would be included if the minister so chooses.
Under parliamentary procedure, "any grilling can only be discussed at least eight days after the motion was filed." Earlier on Monday, Al-Adsani and Al-Damkhi filed a motion to grill Al-Kharafi for "violations of the ministerial code of conduct". (Pick up previous) ns.fn.nam
