Yemeni gov't urges int'l community to stop Iran's arms export to Houthis

JEDDAH, March 4 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni government called on Sunday the international community to unite in the face of Iranian arms exports to Houthi militias because it was in violation of UN resolutions, and prolonged war in Yemen as well as undermine stability in the region.
"The Houthi militias which are backed by Iran works at every level to prevent a sustainable peace in the country," Yemeni foreign minister Abdulmalek Mekhlafi said during a meeting with US Embassy to Yemen Matthew Tueller.
He was quoted by the Saudi press agency (SPA) as saying his government was committed to outcome of national dialogue, the GCC initiative and its implementation mechanism as well as UN resolution 2216.
Mekhlafi reaffirmed the Yemeni government's support of all UN efforts, as well as proposals tabled during the talks that were held in Kuwait.
SPA said Tueller reiterated the US support for the legitimate government in Yemen in the face of threats and challenges. (end) nso.bs
