By Nasser Qadih

KUWAIT, March 4 (KUNA) -- The World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) conference for the Eastern Mediterranean and North African region, in it its fifth edition on Sunday, yielded calls to provide one family physician per every 1,600 people.
The meeting highlighted the need of quality primary care in the region, Huda Al-Duwaisan, the head of the conference's scientific committee, told KUNA.
She pointed out that extensive courses on primary care should form the bedrock of Kuwait University's medical school curriculum, pointing out that all hurdles facing aspiring physicians should be eliminated.
Al-Duwaisan revealed that WONCA is scheduled to hold an international conference in Abu Dhabi in 2020, one of many events that shine the spotlight on clinical success stories.
She went on to say that Kuwait has the national capabilities needed to take healthcare in the country to new levels.
The WONCA conference seeks to allow family physicians in the region the opportunity to share their knowhow with one another, which in turn, can help boost healthcare. (end) ntq.nam
